I’ve always wanted to be a chiropractor. When an adult asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer was always the same- Chiropractor. It wasn’t until I was treating patients as an intern that I discovered the passion I have for helping others. It’s truly special to really enjoy your work… I must be the luckiest man alive to be so appreciated for doing what I crave!
Dr. Bryan's History
I grew up in Waterford, MI and graduated from Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic High School in 1984. I spent four years at Oakland University (where my daughter Jessica is now an honors student) and one year at The University of Michigan. I graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas in 1991, where I met my wife-to-be and partner, Dr. Carol Born. It’s a special treat sharing an office with my wife, father (Chiropractor) and mother (Naturopath). Although they say it’s difficult working with family, I say it’s a blessed gift. I frequently receive comments about the caring, healing, “family” atmosphere in our office, and I’ll have to agree!
Teaching has been a part of my life for nearly 25 years. From 1993 through 2015 I taught massage therapists about diseases and medicine interactions. During that time I wrote The Essential Massage Companion, a 550-page textbook and guide for massage therapists. Published in 2005 it is now in its second printing. I’ve lectured to every major state and national massage convention in the US and Canada. I joined Chirocredit.com in 2008 to provide online continuing education for massage therapists and chiropractors where I continue to teach. In the last few years, I have lectured for the Michigan Association of Chiropractors State Convention and the Macomb County Chiropractic Convention. My complete Curriculum Vitae is available on my LinkedIn page.
Now, I have a confession to make…
I want to give credit where credit is due, so perhaps a confession is in order so there’s no misunderstanding. Before I talk about my confession, though, let me give you a little background.
When I was younger, I had a condition known as Enuresis. Now, all children occasionally wet the bed when they’re young (that’s what Enuresis is), but this was much more severe. This was a daily occurrence for much of my childhood, an ever-present cloud that had a significant impact on my thinking. I thank God that my dad’s a Chiropractor because I shudder to think how much more miserable my life would have been had the solution not been discovered. You see, life’s problems rarely have one cause, one cure. Life is complex, and frequently so can the solutions to life’s dilemmas.
Not only was the nervous system unable to work properly from pinched nerves in my back, but there was a nutritional component as well. Finally recognizing the connection my father helped me by ensuring my nervous system worked without interference, and helped me understand good food choices, and the problem was permanently eliminated! I’ve since then had the joy of helping other young people in exactly the same way; I vividly recall one boy’s face as he beamed accomplishment about staying dry, and I think I felt a little slice of heaven that day.
Several times each day patients thank me for “fixing” their health problems. Recently a gentleman who had come to me with arm pain confided in me that the heart palpitations that had mystified his University of Michigan specialists had disappeared after his second Chiropractic adjustment. But I can’t take the credit! The confession I referred to at the start is this: I don’t heal anyone; I work to remove the interference to their own innate health. My father didn’t heal my Enuresis. Like my father before me, I find the specific nerve that’s trapped in your spine, and I release the pressure on that nerve. The body is self-healing; given the opportunity, the body will heal itself.
I am your body’s “gardener”, searching for the wilted plants and discovering the kinked hose. I release the kink in that hose which prevents water from nourishing that plant . The incredible stories I get credit for are due to the patient’s body finally being allowed to heal itself. YOU have that healing potential also, and together we’ll find what’s holding you back! I have the painless chiropractic solution to your pain- Let me be your gardener. Send me an email or call me at (248) 559-6763.
